It seems that there there is a lot going on in the world of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker right now, and James Gunn is sharing some info on both projects.
First up, Gunn confirmed that Sylvester Stallone is involved with The Suicide Squad. Stallone initially shared the info himself, but the director has now confirmed it as well, but is still not sharing the exact nature of that involvement.
Our suspicion is that Stallone is voicing a character as Gunn later replied to a fan that shooting is wrapped. We’ll just have to wait for some form of announcement.
As to Peacemaker, Gunn was asked how the series came about. He replied, “HBO came to me and said if I made a TV show based on someone from the Squad who would it be?” He continued by saying, “I said there were SO MANY characters I’d love to do a TV show about. Okay, they said, but who would you like to do first? I said probably Peacemaker. They said okay, here’s money, go make something no one has ever seen before. I said okey-doke.”
Gunn also confirmed that Peacemaker “is not the official title actually.” He did not, however, reveal what it will actually be.
It has been a big week for news surrounding James Gunn’s projects with multiple casting announcements for the Peacemaker series as well. It sounds as though Gunn has a lot of plans for Task Force X.
The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021, no release date has been announced for Peacemaker as of yet.
