At long last, Batman’s adventures on Earth One will continue.
Or at least, his adventures in Earth One, as the long-awaited third volume of the acclaimed and influential graphic novel series will finally be released next year.
After a five year hiatus, the superstar team of Geoff Johns, Gary Frank, Jon Sibal, and Brad Anderson will reunite to explore some of the most prevalent themes in the Batman mythos: fear, duality, and escalation. As Bruce Wayne continues to protect the streets of Gotham from those who would tear the city apart, he seeks the aide of some of his most trusted confidants in a “growing network of agents.” This includes expected names, like Alfred Pennyworth and Jim Gordon, along with the newly-revealed Catwoman and… Killer Croc?
Like, I know, but… that’s still just so strange to me. But hey, if Clayface and Atomic Skull can turn over a new leaf, why not Croc? After all, he’s been shown to have a soft spot for the poor, lost forgotten, so it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine the Waylon Jones of another universe deciding to fight for good.
There’s also the added mystery of how the supposedly dead Harvey Dent is still pulling strings and causing chaos, particularly in the life of his sister, Gotham’s mayor Jessica Dent. Could actually be alive, or are their other, more sinister forces at play?
Time will tell, of course, so in the meantime, find out more information at the DC Comics blog.
Batman: Earth One Volume 3 will hit stores on June 8, 2021. More details as we hear them here at Batman News.
