Ava DuVernay is going a bit deeper into the TV side of the DC universe with an adaptation of Naomi headed to The CW.

It was announced on Friday that DuVernay is in development on adapting Naomi for Warner Bros TV for The CW. The series is said to aim to take the character to “the heights of the multiverse.” After her small Northwestern town is shaken by a supernatural event, she investigates the mystery “and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.”

Naomi was co-written by Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker, and was illustrated by Jamal Campbell. The character made her debut in 2019 in Naomi: Season One.

This marks the second DC-related television project for DuVernay as she already has DMZ moving forward at HBO Max as a limited series. She is also working on a film adaptation of New Gods for Warner Bros.

Naomi will also mark the first DC-related project for The CW not being produced by Berlanti Productions. Instead, Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes from Array will serve as producers.

No word as of yet as to a potential release date.
