Will we ever see the proposed Green Arrow and the Canaries spinoff from Arrow? Potential series star Katherine McNamara certainly hopes so.

Run as a backdoor pilot in season 8 of Arrow, Green Arrow and the Canaries was set to follow Mia Smoak (McNamara), Laurel Lance/Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), and Dinah Drake/Black Canary (Juliana Harkavy) as Mia become the new Emerald Archer to protect Star City. Since Arrow came to an end, however, things have been fairly quiet.

Speaking with TVLine ahead of her appearance in The Stand on CBS All Access, it was brought up how long it had been since there was any update on Green Arrow and the Canaries McNamara, concurred saying, “It’s been a while now.”

“I have no idea what’s on the horizon for that, but I do know that I’m not done with Mia Smoak,” McNamara said. “As you know with that universe, people are brought back left, right, and center. I would love to go back and play in that world.”

McNamara shared what she was most excited about saying, “I was really looking forward to seeing how Mia dealt with having this duality as a character — the fact that she had her post-Crisis future and her pre-Crisis future, and now she has the tools of both at her disposal. But also dealing with taking up her father’s mantle before she feels she’s ready, and before she feels as though she’s earned it. That would be an interesting journey.”

With the CWVerse in flux currently with series such as Supergirl and Black Lightning ending, perhaps there will be room for Green Arrow and the Canaries, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
