Wonder Woman 1984 heading to PVOD in the UK in January

Warner Bros. has shared that Wonder Woman 1984 is heading to premium video on demand in the U.K., and it’s not that far off.

While the U.S. has known that Wonder Woman 1984 would hit theaters and HBO Max on Dec. 25, home release in other territories has been a big question mark. Now, as more of the United Kingdom has gone to tier 3 restrictions, meaning more cinemas are closed, Warner Bros. has finally announced a plan for home release in the territory.

The plan announced on Saturday calls for Wonder Woman 1984 to hit PVOD on Jan. 13, 2021 in the U.K. The exact price point has not been revealed, but it will be a 48-hour rental, and not a purchase. Also not revealed as of yet is what digital marketplaces it will be available through.

Warner Bros. reached arrangements with various U.K. cinema chains such as Vue and Odeon for a shortened theatrical release window to make the release a reality. Typically the window between theatrical and digital release in the region is 16 weeks, but it was reduced to four for this title due to the circumstances of the pandemic.

Wonder Woman 1984 will release in theaters and on HBO Max in the U.S. on Dec. 25. Select international locations saw the film released on Dec. 16.
