Walter Hamada has signed a multi-year extension to his contract to remain the president of DC Films.

According to an exclusive report from Variety, Hamada has extended his current deal with DC Films through

“Walter is not only passionate about story and the DC canon, he’s also a thoughtful and incredibly talented executive who is fully committed to investing the time and care necessary for moviemaking on this scale,” said Warner Bros. Picture Group Chairman Toby Emmerich. “With Walter overseeing our DC movies for theatrical exhibition and on HBO Max, we are excited for him and his team to bring more of these stories to life, working with new and established talent to broaden the reach and diversity of the DC cinematic universe.”

Hamada joined DC Films in 2018 having previously been at Warner’s New Line Cinema label. In that position, he was involved with the production of Shazam! before joining DC Films officially in Jan. 2018. During his time at New Line, he also worked films in The Conjuring, Final Destination, and Annabelle franchises.

In a Dec. 2020 profile in the New York Times, Hamada outlined some of his plans for DC properties, and it is a large slate involving both films and television.
