The CW has begun making decisions about which of its pilots will be picked up to series, and Green Arrow and The Canaries has not made the cut.
Airing originally as a backdoor pilot during the final season of Arrow, The CW has been keeping the project in a holding pattern for over a year now. The decision finally was announced on Friday by The CW that the project will not be moving forward.
The series was to star Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak/Green Arrow along with the Canaries, Katie Cassidy’s Laurel Lance, and Juliana Harkavy’s Dinah Drake.
There is no word on if this is the end for these characters, but the nature of the shows in the CWVerse seem to be changing. While there are still several shows, they don’t feel as though they will be as connected moving forward. If these characters were to show up anywhere, it feels as though Legends of Tomorrow would be the most natural fit at this time.
The CW still has one more new DC-related series in the works with Painkiller, a spin-off from Black Lightning.
