The cast of Netflix’s Sandman series has reportedly added another cast member with actor Gwendoline Christie joining the project in an unknown role.

Neil Gaiman’s iconic comic series Sandman is finally making its way into live-action by way of Netflix. While the project was greenlit over a year ago, the coronavirus pandemic clearly caused some delays in the production schedule. Now it seems things may be picking up a bit of speed once again.

According to a report from Discussing Film, Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, Star Wars: The Last Jedi) has joined the cast of the series. Who she will be playing remains a mystery for the moment.

Up until now, only Tom Sturridge has been chosen to play Dream with no further actors being named as of yet. With the rest of Dream’s siblings to be cast, as well as an unknown number of other roles, you have to ponder that Christie may play one of the Endless. Desire comes to mind as a possibility as well as potentially gender-swapped versions of Destiny and Destruction.

There are, of course, characters outside of the Endless to consider as well, so it’s anyone’s guess at this point as to who anyone will play until an official cast list is finally released.

No word as of yet as to a premiere date for the Sandman series.
