Wonder Woman 1984 takes third place at the box office

Wonder Woman 1984 - Diana Prince and Steve Trevor

In its fourth weekend at the U.S. box office, Wonder Woman 1984 took third place as the entire industry continues to struggle.

Wonder Woman 1984 dropped 37% in its fourth weekend to take in $1.9 million in the U.S. It’s domestic total now stands at $35.1 million and globally it sits at $141 million.

Currently, Wonder Woman 1984 is tracking behind Tenet, the last major film released into theaters. That film went on to earn $57.9 million domestically and a global total of $362.6 million. A lower domestic total for Wonder Woman 1984 was, of course, expected, due to the release of the film on HBO Max in the U.S.

With studios beginning to shift their schedules again, it’s difficult to predict how this overall year is going to perform, but fingers are crossed we’ll have a more stable environment by August when The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters.

The final results for this latest film will be unlike anything we’ve seen before due to the coronavirus and the streaming release. At least Wonder Woman 3 already confirmed to be moving ahead, so that concern has at least been taken out of the equation for fans.
