It has been suggested and rumored for ages that Zack Snyder’s Justice League would receive an R rating, and it has finally been confirmed by the MPAA.
The R rating was bestowed on the film this week for two reasons.
Rated R for violence and some language.
Snyder has pointed specifically to heavier violence we will be seeing from Steppenwolf in this version of the film. As to the “some language” portion, Snyder has also said there will be an “f bomb” or two.
Does receiving a rating mean it will head to theaters in the U.S.? The answer is that we simply don’t know yet. Snyder has expressed his desire for some form of theatrical run, but how widespread that would be is unknown at this time. Having the rating in place does clear of the hurdles to that goal, however.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will debut on March 18 on HBO Max in the U.S. and in various other territories on other HBO services.
