Would Ruby Rose ever return to Batwoman to revisit her character of Kate Kane? Don’t close that door quite yet.
Ruby Rose departed Batwoman rather suddenly after season 1 of the series. While the original plan called for her character of Kate Kane to be recast, the series ended up going with a plan to bring in the original character of Ryan Wilder. While Rose has addressed her departure in various interviews, the possibility of a guest visit to Batwoman hasn’t really been discussed.
Speaking with ComicBookMovie in support of her new movie, SAS: Red Notice, Rose addressed whether she could ever potentially return to the role of Kate Kane, if even just a visit. “I mean, I’m obviously moving on to other roles as I think I’ve done about three films since.” She went on to add, “I would totally do it. I don’t think it would serve the story because I think building the new Batwoman is more important than going back too far into Kate Kane, but of course I would, I would absolutely do anything they wanted as far as that [Laughs]. I haven’t watched the whole thing, but I’ve watched a couple of episodes, and I think how they’re handling it is beautiful. I think it’s her time to shine.”
The second season is running a story line of Alice (Rachel Skarsten) and Sophie (Meagan Tandy) looking for Kate. It has felt like an odd choice of a story since there seemed to be little chance of payoff, but perhaps there will be a resolution at some point in the future. We’ll just have to wait and see.
New episodes of Batwoman currently air on The CW on Sunday nights, and are available on Mondays via the CW app for free.
