Matt Reeves has announced that The Batman is finally concluding its principal photography phase.
Reeves took to social media on Saturday to announce, “[Last Day] [The Batman], with a photo of props and a clapper board.
The Batman began production on Jan. 27, 2020. By Feb. 13 we saw the first camera test for the Batsuit, and then we saw the Batmobile on March 4.
A mere 10 days later, on March 14, The Batman was forced to shut down due to growing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic. On April 1 it was announced that a crew member, Andrew Jack, was announced to have passed away from the virus.
On April 20, 2020 we received the first release date pushback with the film moving from June 2021 to Oct. 2021.
Despite so little filming having been completed, the first The Batman trailer debuted on Aug. 22, 2020.
After finally resuming production, the film was halted yet again on Sept. 3, 2020 as Robert Pattinson had tested positive for the virus. Production then resumed on Sept. 17, 2020. On Oct. 5, 2020 it was announced that the release date was moved back yet again to March 2022.
And, finally, here we are, with The Batman wrapping production. Now begins the process of post-production, the inevitable pick-up shots/reshoots of any big budget production, and hopefully another trailer in the not to distant future.
The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
