The Flash film has found someone to step into the pivotal role of Nora Allen, but at the same time Billy Crudup has had to step down as Henry Allen.
Casting is moving forward on Andy Muschietti’s Flash movie. Earlier this week, Kiersey Clemons signed on to reprise her role as Iris West, and now it seems that Nora Allen has sped on to the scene. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maribel Verdú (Y Tu Mama Tambien, Pan’s Labyrinth) will take on the on the part that all Flash fans know is a pivotal part of the hero’s life.
While the cast has had a net gain in its numbers this week, it has also lost a member. Billy Crudup has had to drop out of the role of Henry Allen due to scheduling conflicts. He is currently working on Apple’s The Morning Show in the U.S., and The Flash is due to shoot in England. Due to the multiple layers of quarantine he would have to go through leaving one production and moving to another, he won’t be able to reprise his role. The role will be recast.
Crudup has had a rollercoaster of a ride with this role. He was first rumored back in 2016 for the part, but then reportedly dropped out in 2017 to just have that corrected. As recently as Oct. 2020 it looked as though he would be back in the part, but it just couldn’t come together.
The Flash is quickly assembling a massive cast. Miller is signed on to play the Scarlet Speedster and he will be joined by Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck playing their respective versions of Batman. Andy Muschietti (IT) is directing from a script by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey). Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco are producing, while Marianne Jenkins will serve as an executive producer.
The Flash is set to hit theaters on Nov. 4, 2022.
