Ava DuVernay’s Naomi pilot has locked up five more cast members.

The latest additions to Naomi include Barry Watson (7th Heaven) as Naomi’s adoptive father, Greg. He’ll be joined by Mary-Charles Jones (Kevin Can Wait) will play Annabell, Naomi’s best friend. She will play opposite Aidan Gemme (Tomorrowland) as her she and nerdy boyfriend, Jacob.

Rounding out the newest additions will be Mouzam Makkar (The Fix) as Naomi’s adoptive mother, Jennifer. Daniel Puig will play Naomi’s ex-boyfriend, Nathan, with whom she still has “undeniable chemistry.”

This marks the second DC-related television project for DuVernay, as she already has DMZ moving forward at HBO Max as a limited series. She is also working on a film adaptation of New Gods for Warner Bros.

Naomi marks the first DC-related project for The CW not being produced by Berlanti Productions. Instead, Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes from Array will serve as producers.

As with all pilots, this means that one episode will be filmed and then sent to the network for a final decision. Should it meet with their approval, it will then move on to a formal order for additional episodes and be placed on the schedule. If the pilot does not meet with approval, then it can either be sent back to be reworked, or the project will be terminated.

With DuVernay’s growing relationship with the various divisions of Warner Bros., it feels as though this series has a good shot at being picked up. We’ll have to wait for the official order.
