Could Michael B. Jordan be suiting up for a Superman movie? It’s looking somewhat vague at the moment.
It was confirmed in February that J.J. Abrams is rebooting Superman, and then it was announced that Ta-Nehisi Coates would be writing the script. Rumors began circulating immediately about who would be taking on the role of Superman this time, with Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Black Panther) coming up in most discussions.
Recently appearing on Jake’s Takes, Jordan addressed the rumors saying, “You hear the whispers and the rumors and stuff like that and it’s just a compliment. You know, I appreciate people that think about me in that type of way for these roles. I don’t really have anything more to give on that other than it’s just flattering and I appreciate it.” He went on to add, “But, you know, whoever they get or if it goes that way, I think it’ll be an interesting thing to see.”
In another interview with Cinepop, Jordan said, “I don’t know. I don’t really know what is going with that in particular, but I think everybody’s want and desire to see Black leads in heroic roles I think is really, really important. Representation is important.”
We will say that neither set of quotes have him just coming right out with saying “no” to the rumors, but we’ll just have to see what the future holds.
No dates have been announced for the Bad Robot produced Superman film as of yet.
