Could we bet set to see a lot more of John Cena – or not see him depending on your meme level – in the near future? It looks like it’s a possibility.
Peacemaker is currently wrapping up production ahead of its debut in early 2022. Many fans have had an assumption that this would be a solitary season, but it appears there may be a chance for more.
A fan asked Gunn if he would be willing to work on a Peacemaker season 2, or if it was a one-and-done situation. Gunn replied, “It’s not a one-and-done thing. It’s a series.”
This, of course, does not confirm that Gunn would be involved beyond this inaugural season. Nor does it guarantee that HBO Max will order additional seasons. We’ll just have to wait and see what the reaction to the series is.
Pacemaker is the first of a plan to make a spinoff series from as many DC films as possible. The next one being developed will be a Gotham City Police Department spinoff from the upcoming The Batman film.
No debut date has been announced as of yet for the Peacemaker series. The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters and HBO Max on Aug. 6, 2021.
