All good things must come to an end, and that’s true for two original cast members of The Flash TV series.
Tom Cavanagh (Eobard Thawne/various Harrison Wells) and Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon/Vibe) are both set to leave The Flash at the end of season 7. The series has already been renewed for season 8, so that means there will be some spots in Team Flash to be filled.
Cavanagh was originally set to depart at the end of season 6, but the COVID pandemic caused the storyline to hold over into season 7. Cavanagh came back to wrap that up, and was moved from the status of being a series regular to recurring guest star. He hasn’t been seen since episode 3, but will appear again this season.
“Tom and Carlos have been an integral part of our show for seven seasons, and will be greatly missed,” The Flash executive producer/showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement to Deadline. “Both are incredible talents who created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love. Which is why we are happily keeping the door open for return appearances.”
Four original cast members now remain with the series: Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and Jesse L. Martin. Gustin is the only one signed to season 8 so far, but the other three are currently in active negotiations to return.
