Injustice: Gods Among Us announced as next DC animated film

Warner Bros. Animation has revealed that its next direct-to-video feature will be a version of the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The news was revealed on Wednesday via a press release for the upcoming Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two. That film’s release will include a bonus feature of the first trailer for the Injustice film.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two is scheduled to hit digital marketplaces on July 27, 2021, and the physical version will be in stores Aug. 10, 2021.

In the video games, it’s an alternate DC Universe where Superman was tricked by the Joker into killing Lois Lane and their unborn child. Five years later, a deranged Superman now rules the entire world. The Justice League crosses dimensions to take down this insane version of the Man of Steel.

The video games have spun off comic stories as well, so it’s unclear what material the animated film will cover. Our guess would be that it will cover the first game to room for some sequels, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
