The Flash is preparing to go into its eighth season, and it seems he will be doing it with a little help from his friends.

As The CW announced its Fall 2021 schedule, The Flash is front-and-center. The series has changed nights, but is now paired up with Riverdale, it’s competitor for ‘most streamed CW series.’

Thanks to the pandemic having messed up the 2020 series, both series are going to run deep into the summer, meaning that their returns in the fall will be a bit off of the usual schedule. Instead of trying to produce eight episodes prior to the winter break, they will both do five-part events. In the case of The Flash, the story ““will feature different heroes from the CWverse” according to CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz.

“The idea for The Flash is, (showrunner) Eric Wallace and (executive producer) Greg (Berlanti) have come together and are talking about other superheroes from the CW-verse who will come together in each individual episode,” Pedowitz said. “It will not be quite be a crossover but will have a crossover-type feel and the introduction of all these characters.”

It sounds as though we may be seeing some new faces come to the CWVerse in the fall. Who those new characters could be remains to be seen.

The Flash will return for season 8 in Nov.
