It seems that Peacemaker is switching up its Vigilantes as Chris Conrad has departed the series.
Stepping in to take over the role is Freddie Stroma who was most recently seen in Netflix‘s Bridgerton as Prince Friedrich.
It is unclear when exactly the actor swap happened as Gunn has commented several times on social media that production on the eight-episode first season is wrapping up. If Vigilante only appears in the final episode, then it could be recent. If he is in multiple episodes, then the change in actors more than likely happened some time ago.
Peacemaker is an expansion on Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad. It is unknown whether it is a prequel or a sequel so as not to spoil the character’s fate in the film.
John Cena will reprise his role from the film in the series. Other actors include Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks was later added, and then two more got the nod including Jennifer Holland and Robert Patrick. Another round of cast additions were announced in Dec. 2020 including Chukwudi Iwuji (When They See Us) as a series regular, while Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale), Annie Chang (Shades of Blue), and Christopher Heyerdahl (Togo) were added as recurring guest stars. Elizabeth Faith Ludlow and Rizwan Manji were added in early February, and were joined by Nhut Le as Judomaster later in the month. The last round of announced additions included Alison Araya and Lenny Jacobson as a married couple named Amber and Evan and will appear on a recurring basis.
Peacemaker is currently targeting a Jan. 2022 premiere, and The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters and HBO Max on Aug. 6, 2021.
