Welcome back to Upcoming Comics!
DC is coming out with a LOT of books this week, and as usual, most of them are Bat-related. The Adventures Continue is returning, adding to the list of comics I really should review – and a surprisingly solid run of Man-Bat is wrapping up, which I strongly encourage everyone check out Cam’s reviews on. On the housekeeping side of things, I think a cool alternative to Josh’s old ratings system might be to get little comments from the reviewers for each comic – Josh making a sentence talking about the upcoming issue of Batman while I talk about the latest Justice League and so on! Would you guys like that?
Meanwhile, I recently watched Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, along with a few other classic zombie movies like both Dawn of the Dead films. While Zack Snyder’s 2004 rendition of Dawn was a really solid flick, Army of the Dead felt a little undercooked. Zack Snyder couldn’t keep the camera in focus for more than a second, and the movie had a lot of ideas that went absolutely nowhere. It’s a far cry from how much I enjoyed the Snyder Cut, if I’m honest! Then again, the Snyder Cut didn’t have a zombie tiger.
Here’s what we’ve got for this week:

Batman/Catwoman #5
Batman’s two loves collide, and the smash-up could be dangerous not just for the Caped Crusader, but for The Joker as well. In order to prove her mission is righteous, Phantasm takes Catwoman out on a hit against one of the men responsible for the disappearance of her son. Unfortunately for Selina Kyle, this isn’t the first time she’s gone behind Batman’s back to try to do the right thing, so she’s far too aware of how bad a turn this whole affair could take. Also, in the future, it’s Harley Quinn, ready to avenge Mistah J!

Beyond the Bat
Welcome to Beyond the Bat! Here you can see everything else that DC is releasing this week, beyond the scope of the books we cover on the website.
In particular, today I’d like to make note of The Nice House on the Lake, which is Tynion’s latest foray into horror. His creator-owned books have recieved serious acclaim, and I’ve been hearing some positive buzz about this book in particular – so check it out if you’re into the genre!
Ratings
Most Excited: Batman/Catwoman #5. I know, I’m surprised too – after all, I was never really a fan of King’s Batman run. That being said, Clay Mann is really giving it his all, and I’m honestly a fan of how you as the reader has to piece together the nonlinear narrative!
Least Excited: Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #4. At this point, the novelty of the concept has worn off for me, though I am a fan of the designs we’ve been seeing coming out of the comic.
Wild Card: Crime Syndicate #4. Typically, I don’t believe the Syndicate have much value outside of being foils for the Justice League – but when you’re creating a world to exist around them, it becomes a whole lot easier to prove me wrong!
Poll
Last week’s poll was our closest yet, with Lord Death Man winning “Best Obscure Batman Villain” by a VERY small margin! This time, we’re gonna shift focus to the scarier side of Gotham.
Best wishes, and see you in the reviews!
