James Wan unveils the title for Aquaman 2, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom

Production is about to swing into full gear on the Aquaman sequel, and now we have a title to go along with it. Prepare yourselves for Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom.

Director James Wan took to Instagram on Thursday evening to share the new title, simply saying “The tide is rising.”

Not much is known about the film as of yet, but Jason Momoa will return as the King of the Seven Seas. Also expected to return are Amber Heard as Mera, and Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master.

In 2019 it was rumored that the sequel would introduce The Others. First appearing in the Geoff Johns run on Aquaman, The Others were a group of Atlanteans that teamed up with Aquaman and then eventually appeared again to safeguard ancient artifacts. Each has their own set of powers as well with Sky being able to talk to the dead and Ya’Wara commanding jungle cats. This would be a major change for Aquaman, and would also allow him to have a team of his own that could also lead to eventual spinoffs.

With the amount of time that has passed, plans could have changed, but the original source of this rumor was Aquaverse which also leaked the inclusion of The Trench sequence four years before the release of the first film.

With production finally ramping up, we’re sure we’ll be hearing a lot more about the plot and new cast members in the coming months.

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2022.
