Could we be returning to the world of Smallville TV series someday? It seems that at least two of the actors are on board with that idea.
Recently, series star Tom Welling recorded a Cameo video for a fan, and mentioned the possibility of an animated series. “Michael Rosenbaum and I are actually working on an animated series to bring those characters back to life, and use as many of the original cast members as possible,” Welling said in a video message to a fan via Cameo. “Don’t tell anybody, though. It’s a secret–we’re still working on it.”

Rosenbaum – Lex Luthor to Welling’s Clark – has discussed this project before on his podcast Inside Of You. He also has not shared details beyond the fact that they are working on it.
Smallville ran for 10 seasons between the original WB network, and its eventual successor, The CW. Following the conclusion of the TV series, there was a Smallville Season 11 published by DC that continued the story from where it left off. The last bit of Smallville media that fans got to see was an appearance by Welling and Erica Durance (Lois Lane) during the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.
With Rosenbaum discussing this for some time now, it is unclear where in the process of pitching the project the two actors are. With the number of potential outlets for DC media, however, it feels like a project that could eventually come to be.
And you can’t discuss Smallville without hearing those opening credits.
Yes, it will be stuck in your head now for at least a day. You’re welcome.
