Zombies and vampires are unleashed on the DC Universe this October in two new series

Prepare for a double-dose of spookiness this October, as DC Comics have announced two new series that are sure to chill you the the bone.

Or satisfy your desire for horror around Halloween. Either one works.

You see, we’ll be getting one book with zombies, and another with vampires.  Here’s hoping we complete the hat trick with a werewolf book too, but let’s not get too greedy here.

In Task Force Z, Red Hood leads a group of recently deceased villains who have been given a second chance at life.  Bane, Man-Bat, Sundowner, Arkham Knight, and a truly terrifying Mr. Bloom round out the lineup, with writer Matthew Rosenberg joined by Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira on pencils and inks, respectively.  The brilliant Kyle Hotz will provide covers for the first issue, at least, and it’s appropriately creepy.

I wasn’t kidding about Bloom.

Pivoting to another form of undead, Rosenberg will be joined by James Tynion IV and the awesome Otto Schmidt on DC vs. Vampires.  A more pure concept there does not exist, but given that it’s a 12-issue maxiseries, I’m willing to bet there’s going to be more than just DC heroes staking creatures of the night.  When you include “secret army of vampires” as part of your series pitch, though, you’ve definitely got my attention.

You can learn more about each title at the DC blog.

Task Force Z #1 and DC vs. Vampires #1 will both hit comic shops and digital retailers on October 26.
