It seems that Warner Bros. is kicking it into high gear when it comes to preparing the upcoming Batgirl movie.

According to a new report from Deadline, Warner Bros. is deep into the hunt now for its new Batgirl. Actor tests are reportedly going to begin this week with several names already being suggested as being in the process.

Actresses that are expected to test this week include Isabela Merced (100 Things to Do Before High School), Zoey Deutch (The Suite Life On Deck), and Leslie Grace (In the Heights). Haley Lu Richardson (Five Feet Apart) was also reportedly being considered, but some reports suggest she has passed on the testing process.

A report earlier in July indicated that Warner Bros. is also currently looking for an actor in their 50s to take on the role of Commissioner Gordon. Looking to create trouble for both of them will be an actor in his 50s to 60s to play a villain that is described as “a disgruntled former firefighter.”

Batgirl will be an original film for HBO Max. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have been tapped to direct from a script by Christina Hodson. Kristin Burr is producing.

No release date has been announced for Batgirl as of yet.
