
Audible is diving back into the world of the Dreaming with Sandman: Act II beginning in Sept.
Following the success of Part I of the Audible adaptation, the Amazon-owned company was quick to renew the series for a Part II and Part III. The second installment is finally ready to go and will debut on Sept. 22, 2021.
Act II will again be directed by Dirk Maggs, with series creator Nail Gaiman serving as narrator once again.
James McAvoy will again take on the role of Dream/Morpheus, and he will be joined by other returning cast members Kat Dennings as Death, Michael Sheen as Lucifer, Andy Serkis as Matthew the Raven. Other cast is a mix of old and new including Jeffrey Wright (Destiny), Regé-Jean Page (Orpheus), Brian Cox (Augustus), Emma Corrin (Thessaly), John Lithgow (Emperor Joshua Norton), David Tennant (Loki), Bill Nighy (Odin), Kristen Schaal (Delirium), Kevin Smith (Merv Pumpkinhead), Bebe Neuwirth (Bast), Miriam Margolyes (Despair), Joanna Lumley (Lady Johanna Constantine), Niamh Walsh (Nuala) and Arthur Darvill (William Shakespeare).
Sandman: Act II will cover Volume Four: Season of Mists, Volume Five: A Game of You, The “Distant Mirrors” quartet and the “Convergence” trio from Volume Six: Fables & Reflections.
In the U.S., Act I is a free download or stream from Audible from now until Oct. 22. From Aug. 3-31, if you have an Echo device, simply say “Alexa, read The Sandman,” to listen to it for free. Amazon Music will also provide free access to episodes 1 – 3 of the first installment from now until Oct. 22.
