Almost every Batman fan has a favorite Robin, I think it’s safe to say. Whether you go with Dick Grayson, the original Boy Wonder, Jason Todd, the successor who never lived up to his predecessor, Tim Drake, the correct choice, Stephanie Brown for her short-loved stint, or Damian Wayne for being… well, he’s gotten better, there seems to be a Robin for everybody.
So naturally, a book with all of the Robins should have some broad appeal, yeah?
Well, if it’s written by Tim Seeley, illustrated by Baldemar Rivas, and actually won a fan poll where DC asked what the next big miniseries should be (you’ll have your day soon, Jimmy Olsen and the Super-Pets…), then Robins should be a sure fire hit.
The six-issue miniseries will see all of the aforementioned Robins– both former and current– gathered together to dish on being a Boy or Girl Wonder. They have to team up to solve a mystery, though, as an unknown figure claims to be the first Robin, preceding even Dick Grayson’s tenure.
What’s the over/under that it’s someone co-opting Bruce’s time when he just so happened to have a Robin costume as a kid? I love the Silver Age.
The series will be available to DC Universe Infinite subscribers first, before hitting comic stands a few weeks later, and given Seeley’s solid track record with most of the Robins here, I have some high hopes.
You can read more about the upcoming series on the DC blog.
Robins #1 will hit DC Universe Infinite on October 26, followed by comic shops on November 16.
