Bloodsport project reportedly in the works at HBO Max (UPDATE: Debunked)

UPDATE: James Gunn has said, “There is a possibility of seeing more #Bloodsport in the near future – something I’d love to see! – but there is nothing currently in development. So this story is false.”

The original story follows.

Peacemaker may not be the only member of The Suicide Squad to get a solo project at HBO Max as a Bloodsport one is reportedly in the works.

According to a new report from The Cosmic Circus, a Bloodsport project is in the works at HBO Max. There’s no indication as of yet if it would be some form of TV series or a film, but it may begin production in mid to late 2022.

Elba has said many times that he was interested in doing more with the character of Robert Dubois, but it was unclear when that could happen.

Also not mentioned is what the potential plot of the project could be. In the film, it was revealed Dubois was in Belle Reve for putting Superman in ICU with a Kryptonite bullet, so there is definitely one possible storyline. It seems unlikely something of that magnitude would be kept just to HBO Max, however.

No word as of yet if this will tie into the Peacemaker series, or if James Gunn is involved. Gunn has stated multiple times he had ideas for other projects, but he is also now in pre-production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and will be involved with that film for some time to come.

With DC FanDome rapidly approaching in Oct., this feels like a project, if real, that would be announced then. Keep your ear to the ground for all of the DC FanDome announcements on Oct. 16, 2021.
