HBO Max has ordered a pilot from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV based on Neil Gaiman’s Dead Boy Detectives.

According to a report from Deadline<, the one-hour series would follow the Dead Boy Detectives – Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine – as they opt to enter the afterlife so they can investigate crimes on earth which inolve the supernatural.

The series is being developed by Steve Yockey (The Flight Attendant), Jeremy Carver (Doom Patrol), Berlanti Productions (all of the CW Arrowverse series), and Warner Bros. TV.

For now, the order is merely a pilot order meaning one test episode will be produced to be shown to the executives at HBO Max. Should they like it, it will move on to a season or series order. If they don’t like it, there is an option usually to film a second pilot, or it could just be canceled at that point.

No further details are available for casting or productions dates as of yet.
