DC announces Batman: The Knight, a 10-issue exploration of Bruce Wayne’s origin

In January critically acclaimed writer Chip Zdarsky (Daredevil), along with artist Carmine Di Giandomenico (The Flash), will explore Bruce Wayne’s past in Batman: The Knight! This is a 10-issue miniseries that will fill in the gap between the tragic night in Crime Alley and Bruce’s return to Gotham City after having traveled around the globe, training to become Batman.

While this isn’t uncharted territory, as there have been stories in the past that explore this time in Bruce’s life, those have mostly been snippets. If there’s one aspect of Batman’s journey that I’ve always wanted to see fleshed out in more detail in the comics, this would be it! We will probably see Bruce meeting with the likes of Henri Ducard and other familiar masters that helped him hone his skills, but with this being 10 issues in total, there should be plenty of room to explore never-seen-before characters, locations and storylines.

Here’s DC’s solicitation for issue #1:

The origin of Batman and his never-ending fight against crime in Gotham City is modern mythology, but what about the story in between? How did an angry, damaged young man grow into the most accomplished detective and crime-fighter the world has ever known? How did the Dark Knight…begin? Chip Zdarsky (DAREDEVIL) and Carmine Di Giandomenico (THE FLASH) explore Bruce Wayne’s journey to become Batman in this definitive new series.
