The Batman synopsis released by Warner Bros. is finally giving us a better idea of what to expect from the movie.
Despite releasing two trailers for The Batman, Warner Bros. has managed to keep plot details fairly restricted to the surface. The studio has now released an updated The Batman synopsis that goes beyond just showing the villains of the film. The internal battles that the Caped Crusader will be dealing with will be front and center as well. It sounds like he has quite the journey ahead of him.
THE BATMAN is an edgy, action-packed thriller that depicts Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realization that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he’s hunting.
It has been well-known that Matt Reeves’ script takes place during the second year of Batman’s career. This new synopsis makes it sound like he will still be trying to figure out who exactly he is as a crime fighter still. This synopsis also gives us a bit more context to the fights we’ve seen in the trailers. The footage has shown what appears to be more brute strength than finesse. As an audience, this is wonderful news as it means that not only will we see a more aggressive Batman. Should sequels be greenlit there will be a lot of room for him to grow into the crimefighter we know.
Joining Pattinson in The Batman will be Paul Dano (The Riddler), Zoe Kravitz (Catwoman), Colin Farrell (The Penguin), John Turturro (Carmine Falcone), Jeffrey Wright (James Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), and more. Matt Reeves serves as both writer and director.
The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
