UPDATE: Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron has been removed from the Disney schedule due to her having scheduling conflicts with other projects. What this means for Wonder Woman 3 is unclear at this time.
The hints were dropping left and right, but Gal Gadot has now confirmed that Lynda Carter is indeed involved with Wonder Woman 3.
Lynda Carter made a surprise cameo in Wonder Woman 1984 as legendary Amazonian warrior Asteria during a post-credits scene. While the character had been referenced throughout the movie, Carter was not revealed to be playing the role until the end of the film.
Speculation had been all over the board as to if she would play any significant role in the third film, and now it appears she will. Gal Gado is out on the press tour for Red Notice, and told The Hollywood Reporter that “it means the world” to have Carter involved in Wonder Woman 3.
“First of all, Lynda has mentored me from the very first moment that I got cast as Wonder Woman. She was always there, talking to me, giving me tips and everything. She’s a true champion of what Patty and I have been doing, and it was so great that we managed to find the right opportunity to bring her to the last movie and now to the third one,” said Gadot.
When exactly Wonder Woman 3 will film is the question at the moment. Director Patty Jenkins is currently prepping for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, and Gadot has signed to play the Evil Queen in a new live-action version of Snow White for Disney. It will be some time until these two are freed up to work on the next Wonder Woman film, but it is clear the project is on both their minds.
