An animated feature is on the way for Metal Men with an experienced crew behind the scenes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ron Clements and John Musker (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and The Princess and the Frog) are set to produce the film and are said to have written a treatment for the film. The duo is also said to be eyeing directing the feature as well.

Celesta Ballard (Space Jam: A New Legacy) is set to write the script for the Warner Animation Group.

Craig Peck is set as an executive producer.

The last update we had was that Barry Sonnenfeld was in development on a live-action film, but no word on if this animated film kills off that potential project.

If you are unfamiliar with the Metal Men, the story follows Dr. William Magnus as he develops six robots, each formed from a single chemical element that then reflects their names, powers, and personalities. The characters have had multiple reboots over the years, but first appeared in Showcase #37 in 1962.

No word yet on a potential release date for Metal Men.
