The Flash movie to get 3-issue prelude comic featuring Batman

Andy Muschietti’s The Flash won’t hit theaters until November, but fans eager to see the Scarlet Speedster’s first feature film can pick up a tie-in comic this April! Batman, presumably based on Ben Affleck’s depiction, is heavily featured in the prequel as Flash’s mentor. The Dark Knight will train Flash for a fight against Girder, a metallic supervillain threatening Central City. An established villain (though not in the films), Girder first appeared in 2001, created by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver, and has appeared in several episodes of the CW’s The Flash.

The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive will be written by Kenny Porter, and will have a different artist every issue – the first issue being illustrated by Ricardo López Ortiz. Porter wrote Batman: Urban Legends and New Year’s Evil for DC, while López Ortiz’s work includes recent issues of Batman. Juan Ferreyra of Green Arrow fame will illustrate issue #2 in May, before the comic skips a month and conclude in July with Jason Howard. Howard’s work can also be found in Batman comics from last year’s Fear State event.

The 3-part series begins April 26th with a 48-page debut, and a collected edition of all three chapters will be released in October (just in time for the movie). Fans can also expect a variant cover illustrated by Andy Muschietti himself!

The Flash will be released in cinemas on the 4th of November, 2022.
