
According to a new report, the Joker 2 script has been turned into Warner Bros. and filming may begin in 2023.
According to a source speaking with Heroic Hollywood, The first draft of the Joker 2 script has been received by Warner Bros. No word yet on any details such as the timeframe for the movie or what the plot is, but that it is indeed finished.
Joaquin Phoenix is busy for the majority of this year with other projects, so the belief is that filming wouldn’t commence until some time in 2023.
There has been debate over the need for a sequel since the release of the first film. Some would like to see what happened next to Arthur Fleck, while others are quite happy to just enjoy what was presented. With a reported budget of $100 million, and a box office result of well over $1 billion, a sequel was fairly inevitable.
Beyond the financial success of Joker, it went on to win numerous awards, including two Academy Awards: One for Phoenix and another for Hildur Guðnadóttir for Bost Original Score.
Should Joker 2 move forward, Todd Phillips will return to direct.
