HBO Max has given the greenlight to Peacemaker season 2 ahead of its first season finale.
HBO Max announced on Wednesday that it has given a second season order for Peacemaker, with the season one finale scheduled to air on Thursday, Feb. 17. James Gunn took to Twitter to confirm the news, saying, “That’s right, Peacemaker is coming back for Season Two. Thanks to Peter Safran, John Cena, our incredible cast & crew, our wildly supportive & lovely friends at HBO Max – and mostly all of you for watching! Peacemaker.”
Gunn went on to add via a statement, “Creating Peacemaker has been one of the true highlights of my life, both professionally and otherwise, with John Cena and the incredible creative team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max. To have something we all love so much be loved by the audience in turn has been a wonderful experience. I can’t wait for folks to see where team Peacemaker goes in season two!”
“I am incredibly honored and humbled by the response to Peacemaker and the experience of playing this character,” said John Cena.
Gunn is currently filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for Marvel Studios. That film is due to hit theaters on May 23, 2023, so expect Peacemaker season 2 to debut some time after that.
