Legendary comic artist Neal Adams has passed away

It was announced on Friday that legendary comic artist Neal Adams had passed away at the age of 80.

Marilyn Adams informed The Hollywood Reporter of the news that her husband had passed away due to complications from sepsis on Thursday.

Adams was best known for his work in comics in the 1960s and 1970s and his lasting influence on the character of Batman.

During his tenure on the Batman series he was responsible for the first appearances of popular characters such as Man-Bat, Ra’s al Ghul, and his daughter Talia. He was also involved in revitalizing the Joker into the character we know today.

Adams was responsible for many iconic comic covers, but possibly none more so than Green Lantern #76.

Over the years he also served as a fierce defender of artists’ rights and helped bring about the idea that art should be returned to the artists following the publication of the work.

Adams is survived by his wife, his sons Josh, Jason, and Joel; and his daughter Kirs Zeea.
