Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is reportedly shaking up the executives of the studio, and possibly bringing someone in to help with running DC Films.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Toby Emmerich looks set to depart as studio head, but will retain a production deal at the company. Michael De Luva and Pam Abdy will run Warner Bros. and New Line respectively. They will take over their roles as soon July.
DC Films president Walter Hamada will report to DeLuca and Abdyuntil a new leader is named. This new leader would be overseeing film, television, publishing, and consumer products.
Zaslav has been speaking to Joker director Todd Phillips about advising on future DC films. It’s unclear at this stage what shape that role would take as Phillips is said to not be an expert in the broader DC universe. He will also not serve as an actual executive within the company.
The developing situation is said to be a byproduct of a rapport that has developed between Phillips and Zaslav.
All DC films currently in production should finish as planned, but what projects will come after those are definitely a question mark at this moment.
