With the return of in-person events, it appears that the age of DC FanDome may be coming to an end.
After months of speculation due to no announcements, Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that there will not be a DC FanDome 2022. Replying to an inquiry from Popverse, the company replied:
“With the return of in-person events, Warner Bros. Discovery is excited to be able to engage with our fans live at numerous comic-cons around the world and will not be scheduling DC FanDome for 2022.”
This does seem to be somewhat of a contradiction with the reduced presence at San Diego Comic-Con this past July. We have also not heard any firm plans for the remaining conventions this year around the world. With the recent changes in film release dates, it’s also likely that changes are being made in what films will be promoted in the coming months.
It should be noted that only the year is mentioned and that there is no mention of the concept being discontinued forever. We’ll just have to wait and see if the studio has any different ideas in the years to come.
