Jacob Lofland reportedly joins Joker: Folie à Deux

Joker 2 Script
Todd Phillips

According to a new report, Jacob Lofland has joined Joker: Folie à Deux in an unknown role.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Lofland has joined the cast of the upcoming Joker sequel, but his role is unknown at this time. The report simply describes it as a “key role.” This is the latest role to be added in recent weeks with the previous ones going to Catherine Keener and Brendan Gleeson.

The first Joker film went on to be the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever with $1.07 billion globally. It also was nominated for 11 Oscars with Hildur Guðnadóttir winning for Original Music Score and Joaquin Phoenix winning for Best Actor.

Phoenix is returning for the follow-up, as is Todd Phillips as both writer and director.

The recent news of Lady Gaga joining the cast, and the announcement of the release date, couldn’t come at a better time for the studio with the revelation that Batgirl was being shelved for a rumored tax write-off. With the success of the original film, it seems likely that this film won’t have much trouble making it to the finish line of being released.

Joker: Folie à Deux will hit theaters on Oct. 4, 2024
