With the announcement of the Constantine film sequel, the Constantine and Madame X television projects are now dead at HBO Max.

Following on from the excitement that Keanu Reeves would be reprising his role as John Constantine in a long-requested film sequel, some other bad news hit some projects. According to Variety, HBO Max is no longer looking to develop Constantine and Madame X,  but that doesn’t mean the series are dead.

According to the report, Warner Bros. Television and Bad Robot are both still interested in the projects and will shop them around to other outlets. Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù was reportedly already attached to play John Constantine in his series. Meanwhile, Angela Robinson was in development on the Madame X series that would focus on Madame Xanadu.

With Batman: Caped Crusader already being shopped around, it seems as though there are going to be a lot more meetings between Warner Bros. and the various streaming services.
