It seems that Warner Bros. Discovery is finally picking up some speed with its plans for DC Films, and some of the choices may surprise you.

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, there are a lot more DC film talk happening around the studio lot than we may have known.

First and foremost, it seems Matt Reeves has some massive plans for expanding a universe based around The Batman. Beyond the upcoming Penguin series, Reeves is reportedly working on multiple movies based on the Rogues Gallery. While working on The Batman 2, he is also reportedly meeting with writers and directors for films based on characters such as Scarecrow, Clayface, and Professor Pyg.

Outside of the world of the Bat, James Gunn and Peter Safran have reportedly met with executives for a secret DC film. Whatever the film is, Gunn would reportedly direct, but it would have to wait until after Peacemaker season 2 if it even gets the green light.

The studio is reportedly on the hunt for a writer right now to draft a new Superman film starring Henry Cavill. There is a supposed shortlist of potential writers including Christopher McQuarrie who worked with Cavill on Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

The Superman film written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and produced by JJ Abrams is still in play, but would exist outside of the DCEU continuity in a similar way to Joker.

In short, it sounds as though there are a lot of plans happening in regards to DC properties at the moment. Now we just have to get them actually produced and out the door.
