2022 Batman Gift Guide – Day 02: House of Sillage THE BATMAN Candle

I like a good candle. Never been a fan of plug-ins or incense because their smell is too overpowering or artificial or they just lack the atmosphere a quality candle provides. Give me the warm glow of a flickering flame and a subtle aroma of something akin to baked goods or wood and I’m happy. Give me all that plus a Batman motif? Oh, now we’re talking.

The Batman x House of Sillage Theatrical Limited-Edition candle was “created to capture the olfactory sensorial experience of Gotham City into your surroundings” but honestly I never really imagined Gotham City smelling… pleasant. Like, at all. So thankfully, House of Sillage didn’t shoot for anything close to my own imaginings of a toxic mix of trash, blood, and car exhaust and instead gave us a candle with notes of…

  • Candied apple
  • Pear leaves
  • Magnolia
  • Smokey rose
  • Violet
  • Leather accord
  • Sandalwood
  • Musk
  • Patchouli
  • Moss
  • Warm vanilla

I love how their official website actually breaks down specific elements of the film / the world of Batman inspired them to choose specific fragrance notes. Vetiver “evokes the perfect smokiness of Gotham City” and the dynamic richness of magnolia notes “creates the perfect ‘hero’ confidence.” It’s nice knowing that special care went into the candle and it’s not just any ol’ bit of wax with a bat-logo printed on it. It’s a premium quality candle that looks sleek and beautiful, and smells fantastic.

Lastly, The Batman x House of Sillage Theatrical Limited-Edition candle burns for up to 60 hours. To put that in more practical terms for those of us here, that means if you lit it exclusively every time you watched The Batman, you would get about 20 viewings in before needing to purchase another candle! You can buy yours now at the House of Sillage website where it is currently on sale for $30.
