The CW has announced the ninth and final season of The Flash will debut on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

After eight full seasons, The Flash is coming back for a shortened ninth season that will bring the series to a close.

Speaking about the series upon the release of the date, Brad Schwartz, President, Entertainment, The CW Network, said “The Flash will be remembered as one of the greatest shows in the history of The CW, and everyone involved in its excellent nine-season run should be very proud.” He went on to add, “The team has delivered an epic final season, filled with plenty of twists, guest stars and surprises that will delight every fan. Now is the time to catch-up and enjoy this fantastic final ride alongside the fastest man alive.”

The new season will pick up a week after the defeat of the Reverse Flash with Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) growing closer. Just as everything seems to be going well, a group of Rogues will arrive in Central City with a new set of dasterdly plans.

The Flash is one of several series coming to an end at the network as Nexstar assumes 75% ownership. Other series coming to an end include Stargirl, Riverdale, Nancy Drew, and more. Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery recently sold their majority shares to Nexstar with each studio retaining 12.5% each.
