Filming has officially begun on the Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux
Director Todd Phillips took to Instagram to share a photo with the caption, “Day 1. Our boy. #joker”
Judging by what the man shaving him is wearing, and the way Phoenix is positioned, our guess would be Arthur isn’t allowed to shave himself.
The first Joker film went on to be the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever with $1.07 billion globally. It also was nominated for 11 Oscars with Hildur Guðnadóttir winning for Original Music Score and Joaquin Phoenix winning for Best Actor.
Phoenix is returning for the follow-up, as is Todd Phillips as both writer and director. Lady Gaga joined the cast in an unnamed role, but it is all but officially confirmed at this stage to be Harley Quinn.
The title of the film refers to an actual medical term that means ‘folly of two’, or ‘madness [shared] by two’ and is defined as a shared delusional disorder. It’s a rare psychiatric syndrome where one transmits their delusional beliefs or hallucinations to another. They then share in the same delusions.
Joker: Folie à Deux will hit theaters on Oct. 4, 2024
