As 2023 was dawning around the world, a new image of the final Batgirl suit from the canceled film was making its way online.

In Jan. 2022, the first official photo of a Batgirl costume was shared. There had been some speculation that this the first of two suits in the film, and that has now been confirmed. Leslie Grace, the actor who played Batgirl in the film, shared an image of what would have been her second costume in the film.

Batgirl Film News also shared some new behind-the-scenes photos from the film. Of note there is a clear look at the Firefly mask. It is unclear if this is a stunt or “hero” version of the mask at this time.

It was announced on Aug. 2, 2022 that the film was being canceled despite having completed filming earlier in the year. The revelation that it was being done as a tax write-off for the studio wasn’t revealed until a few days later.

Co-directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have commented that the film was not yet complete with additional visual effects still being needed as well as some additional footage needing to be shot. Despite its uncompleted state, ‘funeral screenings‘ were reportedly held on the Warner Bros. Discovery lot before the footage was permanently placed in the studio’s vaults.

Due to the tax write-off status of the footage, the film can never be released unless Warner Bros. Discovery would choose to pay the unpaid taxes on the production.
