Announced along with all of the big DC Universe news on Tuesday, was the revelation of when we’ll be seeing a sequel to The Batman. You can mark your calendars now to see The Batman: Part II on Oct. 3, 2025.
As James Gunn and Peter Safran announced their first 10 DC Universe projects, also amongst the news was the announcement of The Batman: Part II release date. The only other project to receive a firm release date today was Superman: Legacy which is set for July 11, 2025.
Potentially the most surprising news about the Batman sequel was that it was stressed how Pattinson was joining for “at least” one more outing as the Caped Crusader. This seems to apply that his continuing in the role is not yet guaranteed.
Moving forward, both The Batman: Part II and the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux will be labeled as “Elseworlds” films just as they might be in the comics. As Gunn and Safran try to keep a coherent DC Universe organized, it’s going to be critical to keeping everything concisely labeled moving forward.
Before we get to The Batman: Part II, The Penguin will be arriving on HBO Max. The TV series is due to begin production in the coming weeks and is said to pick up a week after the conclusion of the first film. Reeves has said that the project will give us some clues as to where the story fo the second film will be heading, so perhaps that will make the wait for the new film a bit more tolerable.
