After several rumors to the contrary, it has been confirmed that Keanu Reeves Constantine sequel is still in the works.

Following the announcement of the new DC Universe slate last week, there were some rumors that the recently announced sequel had been canceled. DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran did not specifically mention the film, leading to the speculation.

According to a Warner Bros. spokesperson speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the film is indeed still in the works.

While not confirmed as of yet, this will more than likely fall into the Elseworlds branding along with The Batman: Part II and Joker: Folie à Deux.

Akiva Goldsman has been tapped to pen the screenplay and produce through his Weed Road Pictures. Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella are also set as producers. Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Erwin Stoff are set as executive producers. Francis Lawrence will return to direct.

Warner Bros Pictures Group co-chairs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy are said to have spearheaded the deal.
