James Gunn confirms Peacemaker season 2 is still happening

A lack of updates has driven a lot of speculation, but James Gunn has confirmed that Peacemaker season 2 is still going to happen.

Before Peacemaker season 1 had even concluded, HBO Max had renewed it for a second season. And then, things changed at Warner Bros. as it became Warner Bros. Discovery, and that was followed up by a change of DC leadership as James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-chairs.

During the announcement of the upcoming DC Studios projects, missing from the list was Peacemaker. With Gunn now writing the upcoming Superman: Legacy movie, it seemed to fans he might be too busy to tackle the next season of the popular series. The writer and director has now confirmed the season is coming, just not soon.

A fan on Twitter asked of Gunn, “Was Season 2 was [sic] cancelled right?” Gunn responded, “Heck no, just postponed while I work on Legacy. [Waller series] first. [Peacemaker] after.”

Considering the time all of these projects will take, it seems unlikely at this point that we could see season 2 before 2025, but we’ll have to wait for a more definite timeline. The good news, however, is that Gunn has made it clear that at least some of the Peacemaker characters will appear in Waller. We just don’t know for certain which ones as of yet, or how much they may play a part.

Considering how much John Cena seems to love wearing the costume, we don’t think it will take much convincing to get him to put it on again.
