It seems we have nothing to worry about when it comes to Wonder Woman showing up in the DCU.
Despite not calling Wonder Woman out by name during its Chapter 1 presentation, James Gunn has confirmed there are plans for Wonder Woman. Gunn was asked by Twitter user love_my_2cats, “Does Wonder Woman have a future in your plans? Is she going to be abandoned for a long time.[sic]” Gunn replied, “Yes;no.”
While Superman and Batman both were namechecked during the announcement – for Superman: Legacy and The Brave and the Bold respectively – Wonder Woman was not other than for a prequel series, Paradise Lost, about the origins of the island of Themyscira.
What also isn’t known as of yet is whether or not the character will be recast. Both Superman and Batman will be receiving new actors, but there has been no information on the status of Gal Gadot as of yet. With the other two members of DC’s famous Trinity being recast, it seems a safe bet that we would see a change in the actress playing Diana go through a change as well.
In a separate interaction over the weekend, Gunn shared that casting announcements will begin to be made at some point in the next six months, but no exact time frame was shared. While that does take us through August 2023, it’s difficult to ignore that San Diego Comic-Con falls well within that time frame. We’ll just have to wait and see what the company has planned for that particular event.
